Dining in the Dark @ Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Many people might think, what is so special about having a meal in the dark where all you could see is darkness. Well, that was what we thought as well but we decided to give the experience a try with an open mind of course. In Dining in the Dark, you will get to experience the world where our blind or visually impaired friends lived in. You might think it is easily imaginable but believe us, the moment we stepped into the darkness, all we could rely is our sense of hearing, touch and our guide.

Booking from their website, we were entitled for 13.67% off from bill excluding drinks. We parked our car at Changkat Bukit Bintang jockey for RM15 as parking space is very limited there. Before moving into the totally dark dining area, we waited in the lounge where welcome drinks was served and we got to play some games blindfolded to enhance our sense of touch.

The staff also remarked our preference on our food, what we dislikes or what we don’t eat. I was careless that I did not tell not to put parsley in our food as almost all of the foods has a little parsley on top.

After we placed our belongings into a locker, we were led by our guide, Marcus into the pitch black dining area. It was quite scary as first as you have no idea where you are walking into. The guide also explained to us where our eating utensils located. The dinner was a 4-course dinner. Since we can’t bring any digital device inside, we didn’t took any picture in the dining area. The menu for the dinner was given to us after we finished the surprise dinner where we can take a look whether we guessed then food correctly when we were eating in the dark.

Overall, we wouldn’t recommend if you’re going there for good food that will make you feel “Wow!”, but we will recommend the place if you’re going for the experience. The food is average but some is definitely good. Oh, and the menu is changed every quarterly to keep the surprise element of the food. Lastly, we would like to thank the service crew of Dining in the Dark because they really provide a very good customer service.
